Activity "HEURO Newcomers’ Workshop: Incoming & Outgoing Students" Date 24-25 August 2011 Location Coventry University Details HEURO is pleased to announce that it will be running a two-day workshop designed for newcomers to Erasmus administration and any colleagues who would like to refresh their knowledge of the programme. Various sessions will be offered related to the various aspects of incoming and outgoing student mobility - day One will concentrate on Incoming mobility, day two on outgoing mobility – with the aim that colleagues can discuss the common issues we face, share information and gain tips on best practise. Colleagues are invited to attend for one or both days. Bed & Breakfast accommodation is also available locally on the evenings of 23 and 24 August, and a HEURO Conference dinner will be held on Thursday evening (24 August).
Cost Members: Workshop fees - One day: £50.00; Two Days: £90.00; Accommodation: £69 per night; Meal: £30.00 per person. Non-Members: Workshop Fees – One day: £80.00; Two Days: £150.00; Accommodation: £69.00 per night; Meal: £30.00 per person.

Activity "Change & Economic Crisis: European Officers Charting Troubled Waters - 2011 HEURO Annual Conference & AGM" Date 24-25 February 2011 Location National Science Learning Centre, University of York Details The focus of the HEURO 2011 conference was to explore how our European mobility programmes could be affected by the economic crisis and the government’s Comprehensive Spending Review. A series of talks and seminars addressed the political and economic changes and challenges faced by European Officers, covering a number of issues relating to the impact of UK policy changes and financial cut-backs on European programmes. There were presentations from other overseas institutions discussing their Education systems, a comparative analysis with our European partners, interactive workshops on fee waivers, financial auditing, student inclusivity, staff mobility and reflections on the obstacles facing European Officers. Activity "HEURO Newcomers’ Workshop: Outgoing Students" Date 2 December 2010 Location University of Reading Details A one-day workshop designed for newcomers to the Erasmus or any colleagues who wanted to refresh their knowledge of the programme. Sessions related to the various aspects of outward student mobility, including topics such an Erasmus timeline, financing and administering outward student mobility, pre-departure orientation, ways of harnessing IT (including a presentation from MoveOn) as well as a Q&A session in order to ask a panel of HEURO committee members practical questions about the Erasmus progamme. Activity "LLP – The Next Generation: 2010 HEURO Brussels Workshop" Date 19 November 2010 Location Wales Higher Education, Brussels Details HEURO's fifth annual workshop in Brussels discussed mobility issues and the exchange best practice, as well as informing and developing colleagues’ knowledge of a broad range of relevant European education issues. Activity "HEURO Newcomers Workshop: Incoming students" Date 20 August 2010 Location University of Sussex, Brighton Details A one-day workshop designed for newcomers to Erasmus, or any colleagues who wanted to refresh their knowledge of the programme. This workshop concentrated specifically on incoming students, including: a presentation of the annual administrative cycle and the different ways this is managed internally by institutions; the question of English language requirements; student welcome and orientation; a look at the broader European context and what it means for UK staff on the ground; and discussion of issues raised by the participation of international students in the Erasmus programme. A HEURO networking dinner took place in Brighton prior to the event. Activity "2010 HEURO Annual Conference: The European Higher Education Area: Where are we now?" Date 11-12 February 2010 Location University of Edinburgh Details The conference, combined with the HEURO Annual General Meeting, had key note speeches from Sir Andrew Cubie and John Reilly MBE discussing the European Higher Education Area, whilst participants will had the opportunity to join workshops discussing student various aspects related to student mobility. A HEURO Networking dinner took place prior to the event. Cost Members £195.00 (including conference registration, B&B accommodation and networking dinner). Non-Members £225 (including conference registration accommodation and networking dinner. Activity "2009 HEURO Brussels Workshop" Date 20 November 2009 Location Welsh Higher Education, Brussels Details The fourth annual HEURO Brussels workshop offered colleagues an invaluable opportunity to become more familiar with the general issues at the heart of the administrative capital of European Education. Hosted by Welsh Higher Education Brussels (WHEB), the workshop was designed to inform and develop colleagues’ knowledge of a broad range of relevant European education issues. A key component of the workshop was a‘Student Mobility in HE’ seminar to coincide with the consultation of the European Commission’s Green Paper on Learner Mobility. The seminar was a forum for participants to actively comment and promote specific issues for consideration, forming part of the UK Higher Education Europe Unit’s response to the consultation. Activity "HEURO Annual Conference - Working in Europe 2009" Date 26-27 February 2009 Location University of Birmingham Details The conference, combined with the HEURO Annual General Meeting, touched upon themes such as EU funding streams, EU projects, harnessing IT and staff / student mobility through the LLP. A HEURO Networking dinner was held prior to the event. Activity "HEURO at EAIE Conference Antwerp 10 - 13th September 2008" Date Friday 12 September, 12.00-13.00 Location EAIE conference, Antwerp, Conference Room C101, Building C, level 1 Details HEURO provided an opportunity to colleagues unaware of HEURO and it's activities to meet with members of the Association at an informal drop-in session and find out more about what HEURO is about and what we do.

Activity "How to Improve My Management of Erasmus" Date 11 July 2008 Location Cardiff University School of Social Sciences Details An opportunity for colleagues to share experiences and good (and bad) practices related to the management of Erasmus within institutions. Sessions include promotion of Erasmus, Staff mobility through Erasmus, Managing mobility, with an opportunity to meet members of the UK National Agency. Activity "Lifelong Learning: New Horizons in a New Year" Date 1 February 2008 Location Manchester Conference Centre. University of Manchester Details The conference aimed to discuss the European / International officer’s role in European Education programmes 2007-13, combined with the HEURO Annual General Meeting. The programme included presentations from the British Council, European Universities Association (EUA) and the Leonardo UK National Agency (ECOTEC), together with Workshop sessions which enabled delegates to debate current and future issues, placing them in a longer term perspective. Activity "HEURO Brussels Workshop" Date 23 November 2007 Location West Midlands European Centre, Brussels Details The workshop included discussions and presentations on the HE Modernisation Agenda, European Qualifications Framework, Erasmus and the Transversal programmes in 2008 and beyond, a keynote presentation on UK HE policy and a visit to the European Parliament.
